Music MinistryDo you love traditional hymns and the sound of a pipe organ? Or are you someone who connects most deeply with God through contemporary praise songs? Whatever your style we want to worship with you! Our 8:20 service is a more traditional service featuring our pipe organ and is more liturgical. The 10:40 service features a praise team and is a little less formal. It isn't about HOW we worship but WHY we worship!
Like everything else at First Christian, our music ministry only happens because people share their gifts. There are many ways to get involved: CHANCEL CHOIR (for youth and adults) rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., and is always seeking additional singers. For those unable to participate each week, consider joining us for a shorter-term commitment as we prepare Christmas and Easter musicals. Contact director Gretchen Huedepohl with your questions. JUBILANT SOUND HANDBELL CHOIR (for youth and adults) rehearses Wednesday evenings at 7:45 p.m. This group requires an ability to read music and a good sense of rhythm. If you wish to give it a try, contact director Terri Lloyd. You can play regularly or be put on a substitute list. INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC is always a blessing for the congregation! If you play an instrument – keyboards, woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion, guitars, and more – we have a place for you! Contact Gretchen Huedepohl to indicate your interest in offering a solo or being a part of an ensemble of any size. CONCERT SERIES First Christian is the site of many concerts each year, performed by both local groups and guest artists from across Missouri and the U.S. Past concerts have included nationally-known organists, a jazz trio, a bluegrass group, a harpsichordist, an oboist, a contemporary worship leader and band, vocal ensembles, and more. Donations to help fund these concerts which are offered at no cost to the community are gratefully accepted. |
