Information about our current worship opportunities can be found here.
Where are you located? First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is located at 327 East Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, Missouri. Our church building is on the corner of East Capitol Avenue and Adams Street. Look for the red doors! |
Where can I park?
On Sunday morning, parking is available in the parking lot and parking garage behind the church building, accessed via the driveway on Adams Street. You can also park west of the church on East Capitol Avenue (where there are no parking meters) and in the library parking lot that is at the opposite corner of East Capitol and Adams Street.
On weekdays you can park at the parking meters in the front of the church or in the parking lot in the back. Please park in the visitor spots in the garage or the parking spots immediately outside the parking garage. The lower parking lot and other parking garage spots are reserved for First Steps Preschool staff and those who have leased spots during the week.
Accessible parking is always available in the parking garage. The parking spots in front of the church are reserved for accessible parking on Sunday mornings.
How do I find my way around FCC?
If you park in the parking garage or back parking lot, you can enter the building through the door by the entrance to the parking garage. Once you enter the building you will find an elevator and a staircase. Go up to the third floor to find the church office, sanctuary, nursery, and most adult Sunday School classrooms. Go to the second floor to find most of our children's Sunday School classes, the Family Life Center (gym), Activities Room, and Library. The youth room ("the Net") is on the first floor across from the elevator.
If you park on Capitol Avenue or in the library parking lot, the two sets of red doors will take you to either side of the back of the sanctuary. The double glass doors on the left side of the building lead to the main office and the main staircase. You will find the elevator straight ahead of you at the end of the hallway when you enter the building through these doors.
What are your worship services like?
We have two worship services on Sunday morning.
Our 8:20 AM service is more traditional and includes familiar hymns.
Our 10:40 AM service has a wider range of music that is usually led by our praise team.
Both worship services include prayer, scripture, a sermon, offering, and communion and last about an hour.
Generally, we have one service at 10AM on the Sunday before Memorial Day and the Sunday between Christmas and New Years Day.
Communion?
We partake in communion each week. Our table is an open table, serving all who believe. Our communion normally consists of communion wafers and grape juice. We have gluten-free wafers for those who need it. If you are a visitor, simply let one of our ushers (volunteers in the back of the sanctuary) know you need gluten-free communion and they will provide it for you.
What should I wear?
On a Sunday morning, at either of our services, you will see people in a range of styles of dress. From jeans to dresses to suits. Come as you are!

What about children?
All children are invited to begin worship with us and come up front for our "Moment for Young People" near the beginning of both services. Normally, parents will take younger children to the nursery after this point in worship. You are welcome to take children to the nursery before service or keep them with you for the entire service. Children from birth to pre-kindergarten are welcome to stay in our nursery with our nursery staff during worship and Sunday School. The nursery is located on the 3rd floor (same floor as the sanctuary). Leaving the sanctuary, it is down the hallway to your right, past the restrooms. Children in kindergarten and older are invited to stay in the sanctuary and worship with us. We know any wiggles or noises are simply part of being community together in worship. In the hallway immediately outside the sanctuary, we have a Creative Worship Shelf where children (and adults) can find clipboards, coloring pages, blank paper, crayons, and colored pencils. We also have a couple "Quiet Books" for smaller children who prefer to stay with their parents during worship. |
Is your building accessible?
The front doorway to our office (glass doors on Capitol Avenue) has a wheelchair accessible ramp. The entrance by the back parking lot is also accessible and leads directly to our elevator. Our main accessible restrooms are on the 3rd floor between the main entrance and the sanctuary. From the main entrance and the elevator, our Sanctuary and most other parts of the building are wheelchair accessible.
