First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is a Christian community focused on following Jesus Christ. He is the One we confess to be Lord and Savior. He is the One who connects us to God. He is the One that unites us together and prays that we all "may be one" (John 17:21). Each week our community makes this unity visible through sharing in the Lord's Supper, where we remember the love that God has shared with the world. As a church, we seek to live into our identity statement:
We call ourselves Disciples, a community of believers who follow Jesus by worshiping God, growing in faith, and serving all in need. Bound to each other in Christ's love, we discover our life together through sharing life with the world.
Among the members of First Christian are people who hold a range of views on almost every topic. Following in our Disciples tradition, we are not a church tied together by doctrinal agreement but bound together through the love of Christ and our common belief that He is Lord. More information about the work and witness of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is available at www.disciples.org.
Both inside and outside our church walls we are focused on mission. From feeding the hungry in our food pantry to mentoring children in our community to supporting development and disaster relief efforts around the globe, we seek to be the hands and feet of Christ in service to all God's people.
